Bill McCartney, former University of Colorado Football coach once said, “All coaching is, is taking a player where he can’t take himself.” He left out that sometimes the vehicle where’s a pair of heels.
Club and Travel teams have literally become how young athletes and their parents pursue scholarships to marquee universities. But the question is whether or not these “year ’round” players are being developed to fit in when they play for their school teams.
Christmas used to mean a brief hiatus from teammates, practices and coaches which was welcomed as we approached the halfway points of our seasons.
